Congratulations to Rahul Prasanna Misra for securing a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the National University of Singapore (NUS) under the prestigious Presidential Young Professorship (PYP) initiative. The PYP is awarded to the most promising early-career researchers with the potential to become world-class leaders in their fields. Rahul will officially join the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NUS in September 2025.

Rahul has had a long and impactful association with the DB Group. As a PhD student, he led the development of a new research direction on modeling electronic polarization at electrolyte–nanomaterial interfaces, elucidating how electric fields generated by polar molecules and ions influence interfacial behavior. During his postdoctoral research, he collaborated with experimental teams at the DOE Center for Enhanced Nanofluidic Transport (CENT), providing key theoretical insights into water and ion transport under confinement, and validating many of his models against experimental data. His contributions also laid the foundation for subsequent work by DB Group members across a range of systems, including 2D nanocapillaries, ionic liquids, and nanomaterials such as hexagonal boron nitride, highlighting the broad applicability of the theoretical framework that he pioneered.

We wish Rahul great success as he embarks on his independent academic journey and look forward to his future scientific breakthroughs!
